Bing has announced the launch of Product Ads in the US.
The product was initially trialled in July last year (2013), and allows advertisers to display ads in Bing and Yahoo!'s SERPs (search engine results pages) for commerce related searches. The Product Ads feature similar types of information featured in Google's Product Listing Ads (PLAs) - with the product's title, an image, the price and the name of the seller, or merchant displayed.
Handily, those advertisers already managing PLA campaigns on Google AdWords can import them into Bing Ads using the Import From Google AdWords function. For those PPC advertisers working from scratch, the set-up will be similar to the Google Merchant Center process. The merchant simply uploads its product catalogue to the Bing Merchant Center store.
Bing Product Ads will also be displayed in Yahoo!.
Commenting in a post published on the official Bing Ads blog, general manager for the Search Network at Microsoft, David Pann, said: "Starting today, Product Ads is available in the U.S., enabling you to increase qualified clicks by including product details such as rich images, price and description within your ads across Yahoo! and Bing. With Product Ads, you can help searchers reach a purchase decision quickly, reducing the number of clicks and time involved."
The Microsoft-owned search engine also revealed that it was working on bringing the ads to smartphones with Mobile Products Ads.
