Another member of the ClickThrough Marketing team has aced their Google AdWords qualification: and they don't even work on SEO or PPC campaigns.
Neil Paterson, web development manager, is usually tasked with performing technical jiggery-pokery on websites.
But as ClickThrough strives to get all staff to pass exams in Google's products, Neil has become the latest staff member to gain the qualification.
There are actually two kinds of qualification available for people looking to develop their skills with Google, including Google AdWords and Google Analytics.
Neil is now classed as Individually Qualified in Google AdWords.
His valiant efforts mean Neil now joins the ranks of Amy Bott, paid search director, and Joe Farley, paid search executive, who have also recently passed the AdWords qualifications, as well as new account director Lily Bowron, and SEO executive Allan Akers, who have passed the Analytics qualification.
Neil said he was proud to be the latest in the team to get the award.
He said, in typically modest tones: "Although it was hard, I just have a knack for exams! The questions were quite open-ended but I have a skill of processing the vital parts of the question and then cracking on with the answer."
AdWords is Google's PPC management suite and the qualification tests people on Advertising Fundamentals, probing their knowledge and application of a range of AdWord tools. It also allows them to demonstrate core competences in search, display, reports and analysis.
Google Analytics is Google's SEO platform. The qualification is designed to test the proficiency of those taking the tests in all things Analytics. This incorporates a wide variety of topics, including implementation, administration and also the use of analysis tools.
ClickThrough is currently focussed on staff expertise. Whilst the SEO and PPC teams have been busy cementing their knowledge of AdWords and Analytics, ClickThrough has expanded its in-house content team - with four highly-skilled writers now on staff alongside a freelance network of expert bloggers.
Each member of the content team will eventually take the Google tests, but in the meantime, our selection process has been very picky: three of our web copywriters hold the NCTJ journalism qualification, whilst the fourth has a degree in creative writing.
