Facebook is reportedly set to announce a new mobile advertising network at the upcoming Facebook F8 conference.

The social media giant's mobile advertising offering has become an increasingly popular option amongst advertisers around the world, as more and more people log-in to access their accounts from mobile devices.

Earlier this year (2014), eMarketer forecast that the amount spent on would reach $31.5 billion and that Facebook would have a 21.7 per cent share of the market so the launch of a mobile advertising network would enable it to capitalise on its already substantial popularity.

CEO of SHIFT, a Facebook strategic preferred marketing developer, James Borow, commented on the possibility.

Speaking to Inside Facebook, he said: " A Facebook mobile ad network has the potential to change the landscape of digital advertising. Facebook's ad targeting system is precise and can be used cross device, meaning you can reach the exact people you want regardless if they are on their phone or on their laptop.

"This "people"-based approach is the next generation of advertising and will likely lead to the end of the cookie-based advertising approach that has dominated the last decade of ad tech," he added.

This year's edition of the Facebook F8 conference will take place on April 30 in San Francisco. In the past it's been used to introduce a number of high-profile features, such as Timeline.
