On April 22, Stephen Sutton updated his Facebook page, Stephen’s Story, with what he thought would be his ‘last thumbs up’. From this point onwards, not only the local community, but the whole country immersed themselves in Stephen’s inspiring story.
Stephen had compiled a bucket list of 46 things he wanted to complete before he died; one of these was to raise £10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. And this was where Stephen’s new-found supporters really came in to play.
Stephen’s motivating approach to battling his cancer has resulted in over 175,000 people making donations to his fundraising page helping Stephen exceed his original target, to raise over four million pounds for charity.
Following Stephen’s death on May 14, Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding areas, have been dominated by a mass of yellow ribbons in memory of the courageous teenager.
Many local businesses, including us here at ClickThrough Marketing, ‘painted the town yellow’ to welcome Stephen on his final journey to Lichfield Cathedral.
Here, a two-day vigil for Stephen is being held, with around 1200 mourners attending in the first hour, and thousands more expected to pay their respects to Stephen Sutton during his time in Lichfield Cathedral.
