In an article on its official blog, the search engine explains how it wants programmers, developers and advertisers to use the innovation in order to create innovative new content.

The brand also said it has experienced interest from many of its partners keen to distribute their products in different ways using Google TV.

It enables marketers to combine television programming with the open web "into a single, seamless entertainment experience", the organisation asserts.

Google claims that over the next few weeks, more and more websites will be enhancing their content to make it suitable for viewing on the big screen.

Last week, the brand announced on its Inside AdWords blog that interest-based advertising is resulting in more effective campaigns for many users.

Google claimed the new tool allows firms to reach an increased number of consumers, as well as giving them greater control over the advertisements they read.
