We caught up with our Head of DPM Strategy, Macy Edwards, to find out how she’s liking CTM life so far…
When did you join ClickThrough Marketing?
What does your role at CTM involve?
Managing the largest clients on PPC, mentoring in-house teams, supporting new business, managing the flow of new business into the department and the onboarding process, to make sure we have seamless transitions.
I’m a strategic lead providing support across clients on PPC to improve retention and growth. I explore new opportunities in the paid advertising ecosystem and new product development, to support expanding client service and performance.
What’s your background?
I’ve got over 7 years of experience in marketing, both traditional and digital. I started my career at university, marketing for undergraduate course before moving to CAPITA plc, where I managed the marketing across several brands in their healthcare recruitment and education arm. This involved everything from TV ad creation, social, PPC and SEO to blog content, website development and management, event management – you name it, I did it!
Following this, I moved to NTU and did international marketing for postgraduate courses, working in Asia, Germany, Italy and Greece, attending events and much more. I dipped my toe in PPC for a Nottingham-based agency before being asked to join Thorntons as their Search & Affiliates Marketing Manager.
That role was based at Ferrero head Office 2 days a week, and the Thorntons factory 3 days a week. They had a reliance on affiliates for revenue, however hadn’t fully tested PPC so I raised a case for PLA, then generic search and seasonal brand activity. We achieved a 700% ROI and secured significant spend to support going out to tender for an agency.
Similarly, they didn’t have an SEO-optimised website, so I spent a lot of time working on that and went out to tender for an SEO agency. My latest role before CTM was E-Commerce Marketing Manager for a personalised cake company, developing their digital marketing platform from the ground up – however, my heart has always belonged to paid media, and so here I am!
What do you love about your role at CTM?
Innovation. I love exploring new opportunities and making the impossible… possible.
What do you like about ClickThrough and its culture?
I love the constant challenge both from my peers as well as my manager to grow and develop every day. There is never a dull day in the office! The culture is very supportive with a great sense of humour - the energy is infectious :)
If you hadn’t gone into marketing, what would your other career option be?
I’d have become an Ecologist.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, who would it be and why?
To be honest I don’t think I’d trade with anyone! Happy as I am 😊
What do you do in your spare time?
Since joining CTM, Macy has been promoted to Head of DPM Strategy and we can’t wait to learn more about her next ideas!
