A new study of search engine optimisation (SEO) experts in more than 90 countries around the world conducted by SEOmoz has found an increase in demand for internet marketing services.

The survey, which gathered information from over 10,000 people working in the SEO business, found almost 80 per cent of respondents from the UK reported seeing extra interest in their products.

Will Critchlow, co-founder of Distilled, said it is "good to see our industry thriving through hard times".

The data collected also showed large growth for social media marketing, with 75 per cent saying the sector had increased in the last year.

Commenting on the results for Search Engine Land, Matt McGee noted while pay per click and email marketing has seen the least growth, there were few indications of a decrease in popularity.

The timing of the report coincides with a recent announcement from Microsoft stating its social search integration of Bing with Facebook is now live.
