Web giant Google kept its domination of the US search market intact during May, with new statistics revealing that it accounted for 61.8 per cent of queries during the month.
A total of 10.8 billion searches were conducted by US consumer last month, with 6.7 billion conducted on Google, 2.2 billion on Yahoo! sites and 920 million on Microsoft web properties, according to comScore.
Google managed to increase its share by 0.2 per cent compared with April, as did Yahoo!. Microsoft, however, suffered a drop of 0.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, research firm Nielsen Online has also published its interpretation of May’s search engine market landscape, stating that Google accounted for just over 59 per cent of all US searches, up 9.5 per cent compared with May 2007.
Yahoo! saw its share plummet by 13.8 per cent year-on-year, however, according to the figures.
