Many businesses operating within the online industry are using professional services such as tax, accounting or web design in their work, a survey has suggested.
According to research by Practical eCommerce, over 40 per cent of all those asked said that that their company had used a professional web designer for things like basic web implementation, coding and content management.
Of those businesses earning between $501,000 (£307, 339) and $1 million, 50 per cent said they had used web development services to help with improving their shopping cart platforms and integrating store systems with accounting software among other things.
Search engine optimisation was used by 30.7 per cent of all those participating.
Recent research by Practical eCommerce found that pay-per-click advertising was a very effective means of both promotion and improving sales. Of those businesses asked, 79.3 per cent agreed that it was a good marketing method, better than other advertising routes such as online rich media and podcasts.
