Pay per click (PPC) marketing has become increasingly popular among larger companies in recent years, a new report has suggested.

According to a report from DM News, the PPC field, which was at one point particularly beneficial to smaller companies and advertisers, has become increasingly popular with larger firms.

The report notes that a number of companies are now dedicating parts of their budget solely to PPC and cites research from Jefferies & Co which estimates that by 2010 half of all advertising money spent online will be on search engine marketing.

According to DM News, larger advertisers are continuing to invest more in PPC, as search engine marketing becomes increasingly popular.

PR-GB News has also claimed that search engine provider Google began the surge in popularity of PPC as a way to generate revenues through non-intrusive advertising.

It also notes that this is now the "most popular form of advertising on the web".
