Yahoo! has announced that its BrowserPlus resource has rolled out two new features, something search engine optimisation companies may be interested in.

The aspects, designed to allow web applications to work with the computer’s desktop, are set to see drag and drop file uploads and desktop notifications.

Yahoo!’s file uploader is set to mean that users can drag photos from their desktop onto the browser, with the notification tool allowing for an in-browser email service, letting the person know if they have email, even if the website isn’t showing in the browser at the time.

According to a blog by Lloyd Hilaiel, a member of the BrowserPlus team at Yahoo!, the new features should allow for easier web browsing and desktop/internet integration.

He added: "What’s better about the upload? To start, it’s easier for end-users to select the files they want to upload."

"You can drag and drop files or folders directly into your Web browser."

The news follows an announcement by Microsoft, which said it had no interest in acquiring Yahoo!.
