Yahoo! has today announced the launch of a beta version of its Yahoo! oneSearch mobile search service.
The new localised search engine provides the most relevant results on the first page, which Yahoo! claims will provide users who are on the move with "exactly what they want".
In terms of search engine marketing, Yahoo! says that it has built upon its current mobile advertising service to allow consumers to click on ads to directly access the advertiser’s site or go to a landing page to get information and contact details.
Geraldine Wilson, vice president of Connected Life Europe at Yahoo!, said: "Yahoo! oneSearch is designed specifically for the mobile phone and understands what users are looking for on the move."
The announcement comes after Yahoo! began to offer a new instant-messaging service that allows people to access it via their web browser without the need to download the software, Reuters reports.
