A new report from comScore has revealed that Google was the most visited online destination for US web users in July.

The statistics showed that Google attracted 141.6 million unique visits last month, while Yahoo! saw 140.3 million visitors and Microsoft received 120.2 million.

Leisure-focused websites were among some of the most visited websites for Americans in July, while AOL’s Platform-A made its ads seen by the biggest proportion of the online population, beating Yahoo! and Google.

Jack Flanagan, executive vice-president of comScore Media Metrix, said: "Ground travel and cruise sites gained once again as many Americans sought more budget-friendly ways to enjoy their summer vacations amid economic and fuel price concerns."

Another recent comScore study found that Facebook is now the most popular social networking website in the world, increasing its unique visitor count by 153 per cent between June 2007 and 2008.
