Music streaming website Spotify now has one million registered users in the UK, according to its managing director Paul Brown.
In an interview with paidContent:UK, he said the service is now planning to launch mobile applications and is also considering hosting rare content such as archive radio shows.
His comments come after Spotify said it hoped to deliver internet marketing that is tailored to the mood of its users.
Ads would be displayed depending on the type of music users are listening to at the time, allowing marketers to target their campaigns more effectively.
With one million users now registered and many of these using the free version of the site, which means they must watch ads before they can listen to music content, Spotify could prove to be a valuable platform for online marketers.
According to a recent study by the European Interactive Advertising Association, 70 per cent of European advertisers have increased their budgets for internet marketing in 2009.
