Marketers planning a mobile campaign might be interest in new research that indicates women consume more than twice as much entertainment content via the channel than men.
The latest BoomBox report from Myxer indicates that mobile search and pay per click marketing campaigns could benefit from targeting females, as they accounted for more than two-thirds of downloads during April.
Overall, the company said that women completed 4.5 million downloads during the month, while men accounted for 2.2 million.
On average, among Myxer’s 18 million users who identified their gender, females downloaded 17 per cent more applications than males during the month.
The company said that the higher rate of mobile content consumption among women could be a "sign of the times".
"In the past, men have always been more heavily regarded as the ‘gadget geeks’ – maybe in the 21st century, women are becoming equally passionate about technology and, in particular, their mobile devices," the report said.
Last month, Google officially launched the mobile version of its pay per click marketing service AdWords for the iPhone, Android and Palm Pre platforms.
