Yahoo! enhanced search results ‘could boost online marketing efforts’

By ClickThrough Marketing | March 13, 2009

Companies could boost their search engine marketing efforts by making use of the new SearchMonkey feature from Yahoo!.

In a blog post, the company said it will enable website owners and developers to embed rich media such as flash video and games directly into their Yahoo! search results.

Internet marketing teams looking to take advantage of the new feature simply need to add a few lines of HTML code to generate an enhanced result.

Videos, games and documents will appear in thumbnail form on the results page and users can interact with them by clicking on them to show an expanded drop down.

"We think enabling users to preview rich content right on the search results page will help them find what they’re looking for faster than ever," said Yahoo! on its Search blog.

The company also announced recently that it will be including Facebook links in its search results, allowing users of the social networking site to add friends and send messages directly from the Yahoo! search results page.
