Google - News and ViewsIt is all change time at Places and another new addition is Boost. Boost is a pay for placement ad, currently only available in three cities in the USA, but undoubtedly it will be rolled out further quite quickly because it is a revenue stream for Google.

A Boost ad will appear above the Google Local Listings, and can be handled from within your Places account. The Boost ads can also feature Google Tags, which rolled out across the USA in June, which allow you to add coupons and special offers directly into your listing, and Google Posts have also been added to allow a business to add a custom message. These all work on mobile local too and is an indication of how quickly Google is moving mobile search forwards.

What all of this means is that your website stats are likely to go down. It won’t necessarily impact on your bottom line as hopefully the searcher will find all of the information that they are looking for and visit your shop/hotel/restaurant/business etc. However, this is likely to be a competitive arena that requires a level of expertise to discover and understand the algorithms which help you to list as highly as possible. Internet Marketing agencies are the ones most likely to research this in depth across a broad base of clients so if you are serious about featuring and benefiting from local search, give us a call on 0800 088 7486.
