A small business dealing in the sale of art is recording improved sales thanks to better internet rankings and search engine optimisation (SEO).

Australian newspaper the Daily Telegraph reports that Rachel Derrick and Matt Pascoe, directors of PascoePopArt, have vastly improved their sales using the internet.

Mr Pascoe said that the development of an online marketing campaign that interacts with consumers has been important in improving Google rankings and generating interest in their product.

"On the site we’ve got a fair bit of information – a blog, game, competition … we’re building up a good content base which Google then starts to pay attention to," he said.

The company creates pop art prints based on photographs that are submitted to them and has reported significant growth since its launch one year ago and the creation of a successful website.

"Because we don’t have to worry about the responsibility of an offline business with rent and equipment, we can offer a range of services and products," he added.

Last month a study by comScore showed that internet spending was continuing to grow worldwide.
