Companies looking to invest in mobile internet marketing may be interested in the findings of new research from comScore.
The analysis firm has produced a list of the most popular applications on the Apple iPhone, with three social networking sites making the top 25.
Some 26 per cent of Apple App users have installed the Facebook application, allowing them to access the site, edit their profiles and send messages to friends via their handsets.
MySpace Mobile has also been installed by 23 per cent of users, while 18 per cent have downloaded the instant messaging application AIM from AOL.
Firms looking to market their products and service via the mobile web may therefore wish to focus their attention on social networks.
Other popular applications fell into the games, entertainment, travel and music categories, with the Tap Tap Revenge game from Tapulous taking the top spot in the table.
A separate report from comScore shows that 93 per cent of iPhone owners used their device to access mobile media in the three months to the end of January.
