The services of people specialising in search engine optimisation are increasingly in demand among UK firms.
This is according to research conducted by the Ashdown Group, which revealed that the sector was one of the best performing last month.
According to the organisation, there was a 10.8 per cent rise in online marketing vacancies in October, compared with a fall of 1.1 per cent the previous month.
Director of the Ashdown Group John Lynes said: "Online marketing provides both challenges and opportunities for business. Measuring online results is far easier than calculating the success of TV adverts."
This has given online advertising teams the power to justify an increase in hiring and spending more generally, he added.
According to Mr Lynes, there has been a "scramble" for internet-based marketers.
Recently, director of advertising partnerships at eBay Phillip Rinn claimed that "understanding how to engage" with consumers on the web is crucial for achieving marketing success.
