The decision to integrate PDF formats into its Chrome browser is part of Google’s "plan" to make life easier for users, it has been suggested.

Shane Wright, IT director at eDigitalResearch, explained the search engine optimisation firm is targeting people who remain "largely unaware" of plug-ins.

He also said that the move is helping to cement Google’s position as a leading browser developer as well as a provider of rich web content.

"This goes hand-in-hand with their development of the browser itself and robust support for new standards like HTML5 which will revolutionise the web interfaces available," Mr Wright continued.

He said the move is a positive one because there will always be a requirement for plug-ins, as they allow data in different formats to be handled on a range of browsers, no matter how old they are.

The expert’s comments come after Google announced last week that is has brought increased Adobe PDF support to its Chrome browser, which means files will now render with ease.
