Microsoft has added to the internet marketing services it provides to users of Bing with the introduction of a new toolbar featuring social media integration.

In a post on its official blog, the company stated that the tool would offer enhancements to its search functions, including adding previous queries and suggestions to the search box.

The new bar will also provide individuals with Facebook integration, allowing them to access their news feed, view photos and be alerted to notifications such as friend requests and messages.

Bing's Joshua Scholl stated the features have been "guided by one key principle: make the stuff you do every day online easier".

He added that the feedback from users had been very clear that people wanted ways to keep informed with the things they care about and the Bing toolbar would help them do this.

Recently, Google announced its own integration of social media into its search functions, stating that links to sites such as Twitter would now be added to organic results instead of appearing at the bottom of the page.
