Internet marketing services looking to make the most of an affiliate network have been advised by one expert of some key dos and don'ts for operating in their sector.

Writing for Econsultancy, Patricio Robles noted that it is important to give the channel the attention it deserves and not to consider it as an afterthought.

He explained that if companies do not give adequate time to this part of their business, "affiliates feel neglected, the channel underperforms and everyone loses".

Mr Robles also stated that it is essential to maintain a good working relationship with these marketers, advising against practices such as rejecting applications without giving a reason and not treating all affiliates equally.

The expert stated that doing so could ensure firms keep hold of potential useful contacts

Recently, the site's Matt Swan noted that the affiliate marketing sector has been diversifying into new revenue streams, including voucher code sites and offering rewards to customers.
