A Warm ClickThrough Welcome To Our New Telesales Executive, Jo Kelly

Who are you? –

Joanne Kelly, but I usually go by Jo unless I’ve been particularly naughty!

When did you start at ClickThrough? –

I started ClickThrough on Monday, April 15

What does your role at ClickThrough involve? –

In my role as Telesales Executive, I make calls, calls and more phone calls. So as you can imagine, I spend a lot of time on the phone!

This includes making calls to invite people to our upcoming events, as well as chasing up warm leads generated from my other team members, Mike Movassaghi (digital sales executive) and Phil Robinson (commercial director).

What’s your background? –

I have quite a varied background in truth, although I have mostly been involved in sales.

Having said that, I spent two years managing a pub, which was interesting, and I have even worked with horses as a stable girl. So yes, you could say I’ve had a wide range of roles!

In terms of SEO and the digital marketing industry, I spent two years in Manchester with another digital marketing agency there.

Why this role? –

I enjoyed my time working within the digital marketing industry so really wanted to continue with that.

I was connected to Phil via an agent through more luck than judgement to be honest, but using my powers of persuasion, and lots of calls, I was able to convince Phil to invite me in for a presentation. That must have gone well as I’m here today!

How have you found ClickThrough so far? –

It’s been great here so far.

I’m enjoying working with the team; they’re really outgoing and approachable.

I’ve also clicked well with the girls, I even joined them on one of their practice runs for the Race for Life – but I’ve only done that once so far as I was exhausted afterwards!

I’ve also enjoyed how friendly everyone is and have tagged along to the weekly trip to the pub on Thursday a few times.

What skills and experiences have you brought to the role? –

Well, aside from my previous experience in the SEO industry, I would say my experience comes mostly in the form of sales skills.

In particular, I would say my phone skills – such as talking and engaging with people and building relationships with them – are especially important as I spend a lot of time dealing with receptionists as well as the person I’m actually looking to call.

What are looking to achieve at ClickThrough? –

I really just want to excel in this role.

I’m quite an organised person so I want to work on the systems in place to make them even more efficient.

In the future I hope to do the same as Phil and Mike and further develop myself.

Finally, I’d love to get more involved with the other teams such as PPC and SEO, just so I can feel really comfortable discussing the various techniques and technologies when liaising with customers.

What’s your proudest moment (career-wise or otherwise)? –

Career wise, I would say the proudest moment of my career has been in my previous role, a position I believe I excelled in.

I actually won saleswoman of the month for three months running, and that included having the highest revenue in a month too.

I’d say my jaunt as a pub manager would also have to be a career highlight.

It was really interesting and rewarding to start with a pub which was down on its luck, like many pubs are these days, and get it going. By the time we finally moved on, the place was thriving.

Here’s a complicated one. If you were forced, to spend the rest of your life on a desert island and the only luxuries your captors only allowed to take along were a book, an album, and three items you could easily carry on your person, what would they be? –

For the book, I will cheat slightly and say I would take the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy by E.L. James. If I’m facing the prospect of life on a desert island, I’d at least like to have something interesting to keep me going!

Album-wise, I’d say Emeli Sandé Our Version of Events, it’s really great to listen to and features such a broad range of songs that I don’t think I’d ever get bored of it.

For my three items? Firstly my phone, my whole life is on my phone so to not have it there would feel like I was missing a limb. Secondly I would take my dog, he goes everywhere with me – except work of course – so I can’t bear to leave him behind.

Finally I’d take my boyfriend. He’s lovely, but more importantly it would give me someone to nag at!

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional who would it be?

It’d have to be Beyoncé. She can sing, dance, she’s rich, everyone likes her – she is just the perfect role model, so I’d just love to be able to experience a week living in such perfection.
