Online PR agencies considering the benefits of Twitter's Promoted Tweets marketing service may be interested in a new deal that means ads from the platform will now appear in the results of Google searches.

Danny Sullivan, editor in chief of Search Engine Land, pointed out this is the first time the company has ever carried advertisements from someone else's network.

However, he also stressed the Tweets would not appear when performing a normal search, but only on the real-time results pages.

A statement from Google given to Mr Sullivan said: "Twitter is pioneering advertising against short-form content, so it was a natural starting place for us," adding the organisation is continuing to explore new advertising models, including in-house developments.

The deal, which Mr Sullivan noted will see revenue being split equally between the two services, comes shortly after Twitter announced it is beginning to incorporate paid advertising into its users' feeds.
