A survey by Eloqua has found that 60 per cent of businesses are planning to focus on internet marketing, as opposed to mail campaigns and brochures.

The study also found that 90 per cent of the marketers questioned said that there should be a more environmentally-friendly marketing industry, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau.

Additionally, 60 per cent of the respondents believed that green marketing can be an advantage to companies.

Chief marketing officer at Eloqua, Brian Kardon, said: "What’s good for the environment can also be great for business."

Meanwhile, Small Business Newz published results of a survey on its website, examining how online marketing budgets are affected by the economy.

According to the online resource, 65 per cent of marketers expect negative effects on marketing overall, with 75 per cent expecting the effects to last into 2010.

The website also found that 25 per cent of the marketing professionals questioned predicted layoffs and almost half (43 per cent) could foresee falling salaries.
